Summer 2006 - Hurricane Season On The Road
Red Line
In mid-May we again put the boat on the hard at Marina Seca in San Carlos for the summer hurricane season.  Then we hopped into the van and drove straight north to Athabaska, Alberta Canada for a visit with friends there, then quickly on to Skagway (with a brief side trip to Atlin BC) where we caught the ferry to Juneau.  Chris coached youth sail racers for 7 1/2 weeks in Juneau for Juneau Youth Sailing while we house-sat for two different families.  The GREEN track is our route north.  See Gallery 40 for photos.

At the very end of July we headed east from Juneau.  We spent a couple of days enjoying the fishing along the Cassiar Highway in BC, then passed quickly through Jasper and Banff Parks heading for Calgary.  We spent four days in Calgary while Heather judged Rally-O trials and Chris ran the grrlz in NADAC agility.  Then it was back on the road to Port Washington, Wisconsin where Heather met with her publisher and we toured the printing plant.  Then it was on to Lexington, Massachusetts for a visit with Chris' mother, Joan.  The BLUE track is our route east.  See Gallery 41 for photos of the trip and Gallery 42 for photos around Boston.

After a busy six weeks in Lexington we hit the road again.  This time we were headed for the opposite corner of the continent from Juneau.  But we made stop in Durham, North Carolina for Heather to judge more Rally-O trials.  Heather's relatives live around Tampa Bay and Fort Myers, Florida so we headed there after a night visiting with John and Cathy McGhee outside of Jacksonville, Florida.  The PINK track is our route south.

From Florida we headed northwest to Rend Lake State Park in southern Illinois for the Portuguese Water Dog National Specialty where the dogs participated in agility and rally obedience trials.  From there is was westward to San Diego and finally back to San Carlos and the boat.  See Gallery 43 for for photos from Boston to San Carlos.  The YELLOW track is our route west.
