In the spring of 2005 we spent several days anchored in Ensenada Carrizal, a lovely small cove at the extreme north entrance to Santiago Bay (near Manzanillo, Mexico).  While there we conducted a simple survey from our dinghy using a handheld depth sounder of the anchorage to refine the information available in the available guides.

We found reasonable anchoring depths and good sand throughout the center of the head of the bay.  The sides of the bay appeared much rockier with smaller patches of sand.
